A storm is blowing outside
And rain falls on a metal roof
And brief snatches of past happiness
Linger and remind me of you

On a cloudy evening I dreamed of you
Nocturnal magic made a dream for two
But there once was one where now are two
And in a short time there’ll be nothing

So lay down by my side just for one night
And enjoy the pale moonless night
Without requiring a watchful eye
After all the end is nigh

I reach my arms across an ever-widening gap
And I hope I can catch you
But where once was comfort there is a trap
And that certain holiness replaced with brutal loneliness

They say that all good things one day must end
And if that ain’t a law its certainly a trend
And I hope that my words don’t offend
But sometimes I crave the nothing
Sometimes all I want is nothing
Sometimes I just want nothing
